Kursus ini memperkenalkan pelajar tentang revolusi sistem maklumat; jenis-jenis pangkalan data atas talian, dan beberapa jenis sistem maklumat elektronik seperti Sistem Maklumat Pengurusan (MIS), Sistem Maklumat Pintar (IIS) dan Sistem Maklumat Eksekutif (EIS). Diakhir kursus, pelajar dapat mengenalpasti jenis-jenis sistem maklumat yang ada dalam sesebuah organisasi. Dengan melihat penggunaan Sistem Maklumat Elektronik ini, pelajar dapat meningkatkan lagi kemahiran mereka dalam sains maklumat. Kursus ini juga membincangkan konsep Pengurusan Pengetahuan (KM), proses tranformasi daripada data, maklumat dan pengetahuan. Perbincangan juga melihat contoh-contoh penggunaan Sistem Maklumat (IS) bersama-sama Pengurusan Pengetahuan (KM) yang sering digunakan dalam sesebuah organisasi.
This course will introduce to students the revolution of information systems; the types of on-line database several electronic information systems such as Management Information System (MIS), Intelligent Information System (IIS) and Executive Information System (EIS). At the end of the course, the students will be able to distinguish the types of Information System in an organization. Looking to the Electronic Information Systems that have been used in the industries can develop the skill in Information Science. The course will also discuss about the concept of Knowledge Management (KM), the process of data transformation and information for knowledge. The discussion will look at the examples of IS together with KM that are being used in the organizations.
